Bad start, but great time overall. This was our first time out of Galveston and the whole embarkation process was terrible. I think it took us about 2½ hours to get on board. This put us in a bad mood for the first 10 minutes or so on the ship, and then we got over it. The only other complaint from the entire cruise is that our toilet didn't work from Sunday night through Monday night. Rumor has it that towels were shoved down some toilets during the Tom Joyner cruise that was the previous week. They were aware of the problem and fixed it, we just tried to use the public restrooms as much as possible that first full day.We had My Time Dining which I had made reservations for 6:45 each night. The first night we showed up, we had the best waiter I've ever had - Harry "Potter" Dugang. He interacted with the kids and did a magic trick for us each night. His assistant waiter, Jay, was also very good. The second night, we requested him but were put at a different table. That waiter was fine, but we really loved Harry. We requested him again the following night but were told the only way they could guarantee him is if we made our reservation for 5:45 or 7:45 so we did that for the rest of the week. Harry took very good care of us, almost reading the kids' minds as to what they wanted each night. The food was good, despite some of the reviews I had read to the contrary, but some of the desserts were of a gelatinous texture. My husband and I booked the wine series dinner at Portofino's and it was fabulous! The food was very good, excellent service, delicious wines (about 6 or 7 glasses each by the time we were done so it was a pretty good value), and a fun group of people to share dinner with. The kids also loved going to the Cafe Promenade for pizza and cokes, getting ice cream by the pool, and having donuts every morning. Room service was also delivered to our room multiple times each day.Our first port was Cozumel and we did the Tulum excursion. It was a long day and the kids were a bit bored with it, but the adults enjoyed it. They don't take you back to the ship afterwards though, but drop you off at the shopping area and you have to pay a taxi to get back. We did more shopping than we wanted as my husband wanted to buy me a stingray charm and once word got out on the street that you were looking for something, they all came out trying to show you what they have. We did stop in a tequila store and got some free samples; she even offered some to our 15 year old daughter.... In Grand Cayman, I had booked a 2-tank shore dive with Eden Rock for my husband and son while my daughter and I went on the excursion to stingray city/snorkeling/beach break. They loved the scuba diving. Stingray city was cool, the snorkeling was okay, the beach break at Tiki Beach along 7 Mile Beach left a bit to be desired. They did feed us there and the food was good and plentiful, but the actual beach was very small and rocky and I cut my foot on a rock. I would not recommend that part of the excursion. In Falmouth, Jamaica, we took the free shuttle bus to the shopping area. It was a nice little ride with the bus driver telling us about the country and the sights along the way. The shopping was the usual - jewelry, t-shirts, rum, and souvenirs. We took the shuttle back and were on the ship in time for lunch and enjoyed a less crowded ship for a couple of hours. There is still construction going on in Falmouth. We didn't do a lot of shows as we were so tired. We did the opening night show, Love and Marriage (where it was quite obvious the oldest couple had participated multiple times before which kind of ruined it), Quest, and the ice show. I wouldn't say any of them were outstanding, but they were enjoyable. Oh, and the last night we hung out at the Pig and Whistle with Derek Lewis. He was a lot of fun and we wished we had gone there earlier in the week. My 13 year old son did quite a few of the teen activities, coming home with a gold and a silver medal, a key ring and a carabiner. He had a lot of fun with it. He also spent a lot of time and all of his money at the arcade. My 15 year old daughter didn't participate in any of it as she just wasn't interested this time. She hung out at the pool, played putt putt golf, and explored the ship a lot. The kids both said they liked it better than the Disney Cruise! The ship was clean, the crew was friendly and helpful, and we all had a wonderful time. Oh, and my son wanted me to add that he loved the water fall in the men's restroom by the Windjammer.

Cabin Review

Superior Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D1

Typical balcony room. No problem with noise, convenient location to forward elevators making it easy to run down the Cafe Promenade for pizza, drinks, desserts, and cookies. It was a long walk to the aft when going to Windjammer, main dining room, or the pool(unless you cut through the adult Solarium). View was great and could even see people on the bridge sometimes.
