Just returned from Spring Break on the Epic and had a terrific time! I was nervous after reading some of the reviews but learned that some people just need something to gripe about - the Epic is not a "luxury liner" nor is it a "party boat" but it is a great vacation. I traveled with my 15yo son and husband, both over 6'3" and neither had a problem sleeping on the bed - which was comfortable. Nor did we have any problem getting around our balcony stateroom, all 3 of us were able to get ready for the day or dinner without bumping into each other. There was plenty of storage for all our things and fortunately we were on the "right" side of the ship each time we pulled into port so the views were wonderful! There was no problem with privacy for the shower or bathroom, there is a curtain that can be drawn and it actually provided a nice changing area. I will admit, the toilets do flush very loudly. The teen club was great, my son's only suggestion was to add a dance floor or teen nightclub area - I'd have to agree. We ate at only one "charge" restaurant - Moderno - absolutely worth every penny! We've been on other NCL cruises and have tried the other "charge" restaurants and didn't feel the need to return as the food in the Manhattan Room, Taste, and O'Sheehans was very good. The Garden Cafe was great for breakfast/lunch.Although the atrium is very different on the Epic, the chandelier is beautiful and spans 3 decks. We only walked through the casino area but did not find it too smokey at all and we are sensitive to smoke. I'm sure if you were at the tables or slot machine next to a smoker your opinion would be very different but just passing through was fine. The aqua park and pool areas were fun, a long line for some of the slides. We had no trouble finding lounge chairs and we went after breakfast. Granted if you wanted to sit right in front of the pool then you had to arrive early, we didn't, so we had no problem. We loved Blue Man Group and Howl at the Moon and most of the nightly entertainment was fun. All of us were able to find something new and different to do each night. We did book 2 excursions through NCL because we found them to be reasonably priced after doing some research. We enjoyed the skyride in St Thomas - go early before the crowds! We also had a terrific time on the Segway tours on Nassau - that was a blast! This was a different cruise than others we have taken before - we wanted to relax and enjoy the ship, we really didn't care about the itinerary but enjoyed the places we visited. We really enjoyed the Epic.We did feel that there was way too much "selling" on this cruise, just walking throught the stores brought on a slew of ticket offers for jewelry drawings (that you had to be present for) and other sales, often several a night. The port talks were all about shopping, nothing about the area in general so don't bother attending.Would we do it again? - yes.
