My husband and I just got back from our 10 day southern Caribbean cruise on Celebrity Equinox and wanted to share a few observations we wish we'd known earlier. This was our sixth cruise, and our first on Celebrity. We are experienced travellers, and are not hard to please, but some of the problems we encountered on this cruise were significant.

The Ship: This was the largest ship we have ever been on, but for some reason, the design of this ship made it seem very crowded. We were always getting stuck behind folks who would just stop right in the middle of a traffic lane, and there was no way to get around them.

The layout of the Ocean View Cafe was tough to navigate, with no hint of a 'cafeteria' line (which was good) but also no organized traffic flow (which was bad). People were bumping into each other and spilling food and beverages. The dining room, also, was extremely crowded, with little room between tables. The fourth floor outside the dining room and outside the shops was always crowded. It was stressful to always have to be fighting our way through a crowd.

Sunset Veranda

Cabin SV

We were in 7317, a sunset veranda (aft balcony) stateroom. It was a hike from the nearest elevator, but worth it. There was no hint of soot, nor was there significant noise. The sound of the wake was soothing. We did get some intense sun in the afternoons, but you can get that on a regular balcony. The two adjustable chairs and table were a better quality than on other lines, and it was great to sit there and watch the wake. Very relaxing. The beds were fine. The bathroom was nice, with thoughtfully arranged storage. The storage in the room was adequate but not generous. Nice sized closet with plenty of hangers. We appreciated that there was a daybed in this class of stateroom, though it was not comfortable to sit and read. It would be nice if there was comfortable seating in the cabin.
