We finally took our first cruise on a Solstice Class ship! Celebrity is our line of choice; we had been on M-Class ships four times, and were looking forward to checking out the Solstice.

We flew into Fort Lauderdale the night before the cruise, and stayed at the Atlantic Hotel and Spa right on Fort Lauderdale Beach. This hotel was recommended by our travel agent and was absolutely beautiful, with a very spacious bedroom, massive bathroom, and a terrace with an unobstructed view of the ocean.

On Sunday we took a taxi to the pier at noon, and were boarded by 12:30pm. We were advised as we boarded that the cabins may not be available until 3:00pm, so we took our complimentary champagne into Bistro on Five for a wonderful, leisurely lunch. This venue was perfect for lunch: uncrowded, plenty of room for our carry-on bags, and located right beside where we boarded. The five dollar per person upcharge is well worth it, and we were stuffed when we left! Between four of us we shared a beef panini, chicken caesar salad, leek and potato soup, a Cowboy crepe, Chef salad, and four desserts: a French crepe (Grand Marnier flavoured), Spanish crepe (with Dulce de Leche), English trifle and an almond cake. Everything was amazing, and we ended up going back again later in the cruise!

Cabin Review

Concierge Class 2

Cabin C2

Deck 10, CC2 stateroom 1194. We were the last stateroom on the starboard side of the ship, and our friends were in the exact same location port side, cabin 1401. These cabins had slightly oversized balconies.

We love the layout of the new staterooms. A lot of people have written in their reviews that there is not enough storage in the S-Class cabins, but we found the layout even better for us than the storage on the M-Class ships. I can see how the over the bed storage would be difficult for some people to access, but as I'm 5' 9", and my husband is even taller we had no problems utilizing this space to the max. The desk/bar area is much more user friendly then on the M-Class ships, and we loved all the bathroom storage. The large flat screen interactive TV was also a welcome addition. And we especially loved the balcony furniture: it's comfortable enough to sleep on, which I did several afternoons after dozing off reading a novel.
