Navigator of Seas departed FLL on 2/12/11. There were 3 of us: me, spouse and our girlfriend. We are Diamond status. This was our 3rd time on Navigator this year. We like the ship and love the waiter Lucien Maftei. We chose the ship specifically for him this time. Requested him, but to no avail. However, after considerable work, the asst maitre d' (an extremely nice woman) managed to move us around, add an extra chair, etc. and we got Lucian at table 341 (Nutcracker). We were very happy. Naturally, he remembered all 3 of us and was very pleased to see us again. He is Plato's ideal waiter.

Embarkation was smooth, painless and friendly. Took taxi from airport. 10 minutes $15 including extra person charge and tip. Although Diamonds go to head of line, all lines looked reasonable. We even arrived early, roughly 12:15 pm, and the rooms were ready. We had 2 rooms on deck 8. 8392 which faces aft and has a great balcony and 8681, which is on the outside but counts as an inside room. Both were quiet and extremely well kept. No particular signs of wear. The stewards in both rooms were excellent.

Food: We ate in the Windjammer for breakfast every day but one. All onboard lunches, too. The food was reasonably good. The Asian and Indian items are still the best bet. We ate at the Diamond breakfast one sea day and were very pleased. Much better service than in the past. Quick turnaround and good coffee and tasty food and bagels and lox. (No longer have that in Windj.) We ate in dining room every night. The sail away prime rib was disappointing. The 3rd night prime rib was excellent. Unlike prior cruises were the food deteriorates as the days wear on, this cruise it improved. The lobster was excellent, the duck was top notch. And, the soups (especially the fruit soups) were wonderful. A distinct improvement over recent cruises.

Cabin Review

Superior Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D2

8392 is aft and has a very good balcony--twice the size of standard. It is not directly over the ocean, but overlooks the stern platforms. Only problem is employees are allowed to smoke on deck 5(?) aft and this can float up to balcony. However, it was not a significant issue and I am very sensitive to this problem. It is very quiet from hall noise since it is at end of hallway.

8681 is on the outside of the ship but is the first cabing after the balconies end, making it an inside cabin. It was very good, and very quiet.
