Pre-Cruise:
We took a "red-eye" flight from San Francisco to Fort Lauderdale, changing planes in Houston, TX. We foolishly thought we would be able to sleep on the planes, but that didn't happen! The first leg was a completely full plane; fortunately on the second leg there was an empty seat next to us, so we could somewhat get as comfortable as possible. (DH is 6'8" so you can imagine how comfortable he was!) We arrived at Fort Lauderdale airport at 10:50 am, our luggage appeared quickly at the baggage claim, we caught a cab, and were at the Embassy Suites by 11:15 am! Even though check-in time wasn't until 3:00 pm, our room was ready! We dropped off the luggage and cleaned up a little, then walked several blocks to buy a water taxi pass. We enjoyed the water taxi ride - looking at the fancy yachts and homes on the waterway. We got off the water taxi and had lunch at Hooter's - overlooking the beach. We had never been to a Hooter's before - and the food was good, as was the scenery (especially for DH!) After we returned to the Embassy Suites, we walked across the street to Chuck's Steakhouse and enjoyed a delicious steak dinner. The Key Lime Pie was the best pie I have ever had at a restaurant!
Embarkation:
R736 was a great location. We were just steps away from the aft pool area. It was quiet - did not hear any noises from the area above or the hallway. The buffet was just one flight of stairs up.
We had plenty of storage for our clothes for a 10 day cruise - in fact, didn't fill up drawers or closet space. We highly recommend the cabins in this area.
