My husband and I just returned from our 4-night cruise on the Celebrity Century, and, because I practically lived on Cruise Critic before we went on our trip, I thought I'd pay it forward and write a review of my own. A little background for you...my husband and I have been on 7 cruises together, and before me met, I'd been on dozens of cruises with my family (it's our favorite type of vacation). I've been on every mainstream cruise line, so I feel like I'm a pretty good judge of these types of getaways. Oh, and I love detailed reviews....so I'm going to be detailed.
Embarkation: It was a breeze! Leaving on a Thursday made things very easy because there was no traffic getting to the port or trouble getting a good parking space. We arrived at noon and were on board by 12:20. Make sure you print out your Xpress Pass and have it with your passports, and you'll be whisked straight through embarkation and be onboard, enjoying your welcome champagne, in no time!
The Room: Yes, as I was warned about on Cruise Critic, it was a bit on the small side (we booked an inside cabin, room #8196), but there was tons of storage and the layout of the room made it easy for us to get around. The bathroom was a very good size, and the shower was the largest we've had on a ship (and that's a VERY good thing, because my husband is 6'4" and really appreciated the space). I thought that the bathroom was upgraded well, the fixtures were nice and everything was in good shape in the room. The only strange thing was that when I took a shower, the entire bathroom ended up getting flooded with more than an inch of water!!! None leaked into the room, and after about 20 minutes it all drained away and the floor was dry again. It was strange, for sure.
