Sail Date: Nov 2010

Just back from the Equinox sailing to the Caribbean. Fantastic voyage, probably the best I've been on. Have traveled with Celebrity 3 times and planning more.

Ship: Very clean. Equinox is 2 years old now and still looks like a new ship. Public areas are well maintained and are regularly cleaned. I sailed on this ship last year, and at that time there was a significant odour problem on the ship that surfaced which made the halls smell vaguely of sewage. They appear to have mostly conquered this issue, as it only surfaced once during this cruise, much to my relief - and when we flagged it to the guest relations crew, they actually followed up on it this year. Which brings me to my next point...

Service: EXCELLENT. We had wonderful service on this cruise. My mom commented that the waiter in Blu, Armando, seemed a bit rushed, but I found his asst waiter, Lincoln, absolutely charming and Armando was as well - he had a big section to serve and he seemed to do it quite well. He also tipped me off to the fact that there are several "regular" dishes you can always order, such as escargots and caesar salad, which I hadn't known about. More on the food later. At Cafe Bacio, Jose was the barista everyone dreams about - unfailingly cheerful and the best coffees I've had on any cruise ship. Considering he works nights at the Molecular Bar (where he's equally talented), I found his attention to detail and willingness to serve with a smile particularly welcome. And don't miss the pastries in the case...they're far better than anything you get in Oceanview. In the AquaSpa Cafe, Valentin was the Chef de Rang and really made sure everything was perfect - one day, although my mom and I showed up at 9:30, he still made sure we could have our breakfast. And in the AquaSpa, Lindsay gave my mom and me both great hair treatments - very talented hairdresser. I thought the housekeeping staff kept the room clean but not much more than that.
