So lots of fun on board the Jewel and Norwegian's "Freestyle Cruising" we had a great time. We sailed from NYC which was remarkably easy to do. Took NJ Transit from Raritan NJ (left our car there had to drive from PA) and it takes you to NY Penn Station which is a quick cab ride to the harbor. Jewel was the only ship there that day, so getting in was super easy. Embarkation took about 45 minutes, which wasn't bad considering the 400 people in front of us, we were told once aboard that our room wasn't ready yet, so we headed for the Bar City and had a couple drinks while we waited. I can't say enough about how good ALL the drinks were. And potent... whew! Some of them you have to be careful with... goes down like Cool Aide, kicks like 5 shots of Vodka! We got to our cabin and found a rare Towel Terrier on our bed. We decided he was cute and kept him, along with all the other towel animals made for us on our cruise. We had quite a zoo on our little desk by Sunday. Our Room Stewards were great. We never once saw them, but we left a note saying we liked the Towel Mice... from that point on there were always some sneaky Towel Mice hiding in our room.

Our first night we had supper in the Tsar's Palace. Very good and dessert was awesome. Service was outstanding, and we at there 2 more times. We also had Chin Chin which was great! Tons of choice, and excellent food. We had Cagney's on our own little "formal night" best filet mignon I have ever had. The Garden Cafe was always good, and since we were near the aft end of the ship, we took to having breakfast on the rear balcony deck (The great outdoors) every morning. It was without question the best breakfast I have ever had. For us the crowning dining experience was Teppanyaki. Awesome meal, and I mean awesome. Great show, the chefs worked individually with their 6 people, and we had a blast. The people we sat with had a little boy, and the chef made special treats just for him. It was amazing, totally worth the cover charge.

The shows we went to were great! Second city was hysterical, and the nightly gameshows with Ferdie and Shona were awesome. We usually went to bed a little early, so we didn't see that many shows. We went to the International Crew farewell show, which kind of capped all the weeks performances with Le Cirque Bijou. The Norwegian Way song was cute, and my wife and I decided then and there NCL was our cruise line of choice. Cuteness works on us.

Cabin Review

Inside

Cabin IC

Quiet little cabin on deck 11 aft. Low traffic section of hallway, and convenient to our favorite dining spots. Interior cabin which didn't bother me, when we wanted to nap, we just killed the lights and it was dark. Bed was comfy, the bathroom was a little small, but hey, it's a ship. Also my wife and I are big people, I stand 6'5" and she 6'2" so any bathroom is small to us. Our room stewards were great. We kept our little towel animals on our desk, and by Sunday had quite a zoo going on. We left them a note that we liked the Towel Mice, and the next day, and for the rest of our cruise, we had sneaky towel mice all over our cabin, snuggled in a nest in the turndown of our covers, on our pillows, a little family of them on the TV. Very cute and thoughtful.
