My fiance and I booked this trip as a way to celebrate our recent engagement and our fifth anniversary together, and we had such a great time. We did feel like we were very young for the crowd on this cruise being in our early twenties, but we never felt out of place. We were asked a few time if we were honeymooners, which I guess made sense in context.
We arrived at the port around 11am, and going through security was a breeze. The line up at check in was so short it didn't even matter that I was a Latitude member, we sailed straight through. The ship was not ready for boarding by the time we finished checking in, so everyone sat in a holding area and was boarded row by row when it was time. The entire process took us no more than half an hour.
We went straight to the Summer Palace and were pretty much the first seated. We had a view of the dock and watched workers loading skids of pineapples onto the ship. I had the steak and fries for lunch. I usually find that steak on cruises are somewhat overdone, so I've always ordered it one or two steps below how I like it.
Our cabin was 9155, an aft inside stateroom. I believe there was a crew corridor right next to us. On the first night, there was this curious knocking noise that continued into the night from where the corridor would be. I couldn't figure out what it was, but it didn't happen again. I can only guess that something had come loose in the crew area and was fastened again after that first night.
Otherwise, it was a great place to be. We were very close to the elevator that took us straight up to the Garden Cafe and straight down to the Summer palace, and was nice and quiet for being so close to elevators.
The cabin was thoughtfully laid out and we never felt cramped or that we needed more space.
