Hurricane Tomas reared his ugly head throughout this cruise. Carnival changed the order of our itinerary before we set sail to avoid the hurricane. The cruise port we had been most looking forward to, Grand Cayman was canceled completely due to water washing over the pier. Cozumel, Belize, and Roatan are nothing ports. There is little if anything at these ports, don't waste your time, you can get the T-shirt on board.

When we left Tampa the weather was warm with a few clouds. When we arrived at Roatan the rain came. The trip to the Caymans was the roughest I've ever experienced and many people including me were sea sick. The rough sea stayed with us until we entered Tampa Bay and were greeted with a cold snap (at least cold for Florida).

We picked our cabin, a balcony, room 4209 because it was close to the water and the first balcony past the life boats. We hoped to avoid cigarette smoke from other passengers and actually get to enjoy the balcony for once. Directly underneath our balcony on the 3rd deck was a smoking station with ash tray just outside the Truffles Dinning room. There was some smoke but not too bad when we were moving. The bad part, was the band in front of the dinning room underneath us. The bass and microphone was so loud that it drowned out our television and shook the bed. We were watching the World Series so we were in our cabin early the first few nights. My DH got mad when he couldn't hear the ball game and called Guest Services to complain. Guest Services Supervisor Chuckrit Polyadetch got right back to us and moved us to another balcony cabin, 8131. We moved just in time for the extreme turbulent sea. We went from all the way Aft to all the way forward and 4 decks higher. We felt Carnival went out of their way to ensure we had a state room that we were happier with and Guest services deserve a thank you for their efforts. Kelvin our room steward was excellent.
