Epic Eastern 10/23 - 10/30

Sail Date: October 2010
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Miami
Our Epic vacation is over and it was outstanding. We spent one night at W hotel in Ft Lauderdale which was well worth the time and money. We then spent one night in Miami before depature. Embarkation and debarkation was very efficient and fast. There was many things to do and see on this ship. We do not understand how anyone could have been negative about this ship.

POOL AND DECK AREA : The Epic pool deck was great. The pools are small but the water elements make up for it. The water slides are lots of fun and the kids spray area is a great idea. Epic Bounce and Rock Wall is also great fun.

SPA: Well worth the $199 package to have use of the spa area. We used it as much as twice a day and never was crowded. You could relax on balcony, in the steam room, relaxation room, or in the relaxation spa. This area is the best place to find quiet time on the ship. We would recommend Spa Suites or package deal.

Only negative is no way to walk around the ship on the More outside but the other options make up for it on this ship. You can always book a ship with promenade or walking area around the outside but you have only one EPIC.

CABINS: EPIC - Our balcony cabin was outstanding. We enjoyed our balcony cabin and great view of the two disney ships we watched port and depart. The beds were very comfortable and I am 6'. The shower is hot with great shower head and plenty of room. Sink and toliet were never a problem. Our cabin attendant was outstanding and took good care of us.

FOOD: We enjoyed all the food on this ship and better than the other Norwegian cruise we took last year. We found the food to be consistently good and we hit all the food venues. The restaurants never seemed crowed although breakfast buffet you could find a short wait for omlete. No problem since we are on vacation and never in a hurry.

O'Sheehans great place to eat and was very open. There was plenty of room and we never had problem getting a table. Never saw a problem with smoke or noise that others have complained about. The world series and football on the big screen could get loud but that is the atmosphere of this dining option.

The casino area could get very busy and hard to find spots at some table games. There could be some slot machines found open but the good ones were always crowded. Again, the smoke was not that bad. We noticed several portable air purfiers around the casino that may help. Casino area was outstanding but then we enjoy playing table games and slots. We actually came back with more money than we went with so it was profitable for us.

ENTERTAINMENT: EPIC has the best entertainment. Blue man group was outstanding and they picked the perfect woman from the audience to interact with during one of their skits. It is well worth a reservation. Howl at the moon was so much fun we spent several nights enjoying this. We did not spend that much time in the jazz bar but the band was very good. Cirque Dreams and dinner was also outstanding. The surf and turf was great along with the sample of deserts. The two hours flew by with the constant entertainment. The entertainers were outstanding and well worth the extra money. We enjoyed Second City and Murder Mystery. The Legends was not so great for us. We do not believe Brittany Spears is a legend but that is just our preference. I am not a fan of Michael Jackson but the performer was outstanding in his performance of Michael Jackson. Rod Stewart entertainer was very good.

PORTS; We enjoyed the three ports of St Maarten, St Thomas, and Nassau. We do have to say we booked Fury Charters online for St Thomas and it was well worth the money. The sailboat was not crowed and we enjoyed the sailing along with the great snorkeling. The Sea and See excurision was horrible in St Maarten and the only we booked through the ship. We would never recommend this excursion in St Maarten.

We are on Norwegian again for trip to Alaska in 2011 but I do not know if we we will be sailing on Epic again any time soon. That is not because it was not great but there are other options we want to experience. We would consider it when they change their routes. Overall it was an outstanding trip and all the staff treated us great. We were greeted at least seven times as we entered the ship and it continued all week long. I would recommend you try it your self and make your own decision. I believe this was right for us but not everyone may agree. We know it was a great choice for us so we could have the EPIC experience. Less
