We were so happy with the quick way we were able to embark onto the ship in Barcelona, having paid extra for a special room this paid dividends as were could walk straight through and check in, the staff seemed welcoming and helpful. There were plenty of welcoming faces while we walked around the ship while making ourselves familiar with the surroundings. We were so happy when we were able to get into our cabin, as this was our first cruise we were positively surprised with the size and standard of the cabin.

The first port Villefranche used tender boats to get to shore - this process seemed a little chaotic but took just an hour to get to the point we could get off ship - so not the end of the world. What was very bad is that we decided, along with some other cruisers, to get off ship and take a train to the nearby Monte Carlo. After a 1hr 30min wait we gave up trying as it seems there was a French train strike - we didn't have enough time to get the alternative 50min bus ride, look around and get back - so just left to go back to the boat. We were disappointed that Celebrity could not have given out this information, we understand we were not on their organised tour but this piece on information could have helped us and a lot of other people out.

Other than these 2 issues we could not fault any other aspects of the cruise up until the moment that the captain announced end of Day 2 that the cruise was cancelled due to damage to the rudders. From this moment on it seems the staff and company just could not handle what was happening.

Cabin Review

Sunset Veranda

Cabin SV

We were positively surprised on the good size of the cabin and bathroom. Although we haven't cruised before we were expecting a lot smaller sizes. The bed also was quite big.

The sofa wasn't big enough to fit 2 people on though and the area by the sofa also had a side table and the desk/mirror area which seems quite squashed in - good job we had a balcony really
