We left the house bright and early on Sunday for our 2 hour drive to the port, stopping first at my daughter's house to drop off the dog and then at my sister's to drop off our teenage son. Although we have cruised many times out of Ft. Lauderdale, we have always been dropped off by friends or family. This time we were driving ourselves and because we were unsure of the parking did not want to leave the house too late. Actually, since worry is my middle name, I was worried about what would happen if the lots were full. Fortunately, my worries did not come true. Intending to park at the port, we followed some parking signs thinking we were headed to the port and were pleasantly surprised that we had ended up in another lot that was $3 a day cheaper than the port. After waiting only a couple of minutes a shuttle picked us up in front of our car and drove us to the port which was about five minutes away.

Embarkation: The check in process took just minutes, but they did not let people on the ship until 11:30 a.m. The wait was painless as the terminal is very clean and large and the time passed quickly. This was the earliest I have ever boarded and the benefit was that the buffet was not crowded and we quickly got a table. You were not allowed into you room until about 1 p.m. so after lunch we just walked around with our light carry on.

Aqua Class cabin: I upgraded to AQ from CC because the price was right and I wanted to try Blu. When we arrived, we had a carafe of peach tea and 2 complimentary bottles of water, along with our sparkling wine and fresh flowers. We were later given our basket of fresh fruit. Our cabin was perfectly located, by the elevator and just below the Aqua Spa cafe. This is important because the seating for the spa cafe is quite limited, so the couple of days we took food from there, we would just walk down one flight of stairs to our room and eat on the balcony. The cool thing about the room is that you can see inside the bridge and during docking/departure, we could see the officers going about their job. We did not have a problem with outside noise, although from time to time you would hear a few doors slamming. There was no noise from above.
