Alaskan Cruise 12-19 September 2010

My wife finally talked me into a cruise again because the Alaskan cruise would not be on open waters and I could probably avoid motion sickness. In August I began researching Alaskan cruises and discovered that early/mid September was the best time because it would be a little cooler, less crowded because children would be back in school and less bugs. We booked this trip at the last possible moment that we could have for NCL and still get a bottom mid-ship room with a window.

The room was $1770 after a 20% AARP discount for a room with a large window, mid-ship Deck 5, (Rm. 5048). As I had just turned 50 in August, I simultaneously signed up with AARP to get their discount while making reservations.

Oceanview Stateroom #5048: Very small of course and about what we expected. However, we would prefer not having to sqeeze between the wall & bed to get into one side of the bed, nor having to squeeze into the toilet area. There was adequate room for our belongings (2 adults). The TV screen was too small and disappointing.
