Splendour of the Seas Cruise Review by Vendrell
Royal Caribbean - Fabulous from the off. Very efficient, friendly crew/staff. Cabin spotlessly clean and comfortable and it was lovely to see the towelling animals! The King and I resturant - super food with plenty of choice. The Windjammer busy at breakfast time, so opted to eat in the King and (waiter service) which was much more civilized. Wine very expensive, but got round that by purchasing 'Alice White package' in the Windjammer - 4 small bottles for the price of 3 = $18. We took them to our cabin and even took a glass into dinner and the bars and no problem. A good way to get around the expensive wine packages. Free water and soft drinks available all day. The shows in the 42nd Street Theatre were brilliant, especially the Motown Show on the last night, followed by the 'White Party' on deck. Some of the other entertainment - quiz's etc.. a bit juvenile, but shows in the theatre top-class. Plenty of live music in lots of difference locations all evening. Very noisy around the pool, but plenty of quiet decks to sunbathe. The jewellery making class was well worth it. The on shore excursion to Ephesus was very disappointing, guide not very good and just too many people. We did our own thing in the other ports. Santorini lovely, but be warned about getting down to the port by cable car to return to ship - huge queues. On return to Venice, as we had a late flight, so took the shuttle to Piazza Roma and left our luggage at the bus station (5 euros a bag). We took the 'Vapour' (6 euros) to San Marco and spent the day looking around stunning Venice. In the afternoon we took the shuttle to the airport (6 euros each). I would definitely sail on the Splendour of the Seas again!
