Cabin: Superior Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

We were on our annual Mother/Daughter cruise. We had never been on a Freedom class ship before and enjoyed the layout of the ship and the space. Our cabin was great. We had a balcony, and used it more than we thought we would.

Dining- The MDR was just average. We liked it, but weren't really "wow'ed" by anything. We didn't feel there was as huge a selection as we've had in the past. Service for lunch and breakfast in the MDR was very slow. Our head waiter was the best we've ever had. He stopped by our table every night and was very engaging. We ate a Chops one night, and did not feel it lived up to it's hype. The food was ok, but the decor was in need of an update. We ate at the Windjammer several times for lunch and breakfast. We liked the lay out, and variety of food offered. Our favorite snack was the afternoon scone during Tea Time and made it a point to get one everyday. The service was also very good. We didn't care for the midnight buffet replacement-the culinary showcase in the promenade. It was too crowded with everything else going on.

Shows-We weren't at all impressed with the 3 main stage shows. We felt the storyline was vague and difficult to follow. The singers were not the best and often times not in tune. We traveled Disney last year and felt their shows were far superior to these. We are big "show people" and were very disappointed with these. The other shows however, we liked. The opening and closing variety shows were good. We liked the Ice Show very much, and found it a unique offering.

Cabin Review

Superior Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D1

Loved the beds. The sofa bed was great for someone who likes a hard mattress. The other beds were soft, which was just perfect for our group. We like the shower with a sliding door rather than curtain. The location was good and reasonably close to the elevators. It was very convenient to the MDR's and library. It was very quiet. We didn't hear any outside noise. The view was great on the balcony and we found it to be a good size. There were two chairs, table and a lounger. We had three in our room and had to move our little coffee table out onto the balcony as it was too crowded when the sofa was made into a bed. We would have liked a little more closet and drawer space. For 3 women we needed more storage room for a 7 day cruise.
