I booked this cruise just a few days in advance. I was pleasantly surprised and the Gem class is one of my new favourite classes for the tranquility and relaxation it offered! This was cruise #11 for me, and also the shortest and cheapest cruise I’ve ever taken. I found an insider offer for double latitude points. A balcony room came to just $800 CAD for this 5 day cruise, which is exceptional value.
I found a Miami airport hotel with shuttles from the airport and to the Miami cruise port – very efficient and affordable. The Miami cruise terminal is beautiful and incredibly efficient. I left my hotel at 11am and by 12pm I was onboard eating lunch in the buffet. I was boarding group #15, but they kept moving quickly.
With a capacity of 2400 passengers and the ship not being full (I would estimate maybe 80% full, they didn’t say) the Jade was very quiet and spacious. There was never a crowd on the pool deck and it was always easy to find a seat in the atrium, buffet, theatre, and main dining room. The venues are well-spaced out so too many people are never in one area.
Sadly not much to see or do. You're dropped off right in a resort or there is a short shuttle ride to a casino.
Great Stirrup Cay had two ships on Sunday (the Epic and Jade). There were plenty of beach chairs available, however line-ups were still fairly long at the taco bar and lunch buffet. The tacos are excellent! So they could use a second taco bar or more venues to spread out the lunch rush.
A surprising beach-town visit! Very walkable with lots of restaurants and coffee shops. Sadly I could not find some iconic key lime pie.
Great visit to the Blue Lagoon for a beach day.
