Norwegian Sun - Scandinavia and St. Petersburg, Russia - August 3 - August 15 Cruise Critic - "Sailorlady"
I traveled with a friend, both of us seniors, ages 70 and 80, in good health and with stamina. We were both professional women with children. It would have been more comfortable for us if we had not traveled in mid-summer because of the heat and the crowds everywhere.
We traveled with a tour group we had used before and which we find efficient. However, the London hotel, Lancaster London Hotel, was a disappointment. Although clean, they cater to mid-east visitors, according to the manager, up to 70% in July and August. These people partied outside under our windows all night. The management did nothing to stop this. We toured London, saw the crown jewels, disappointed they do not let people try them on, and then were met the morning of August 3 by an NCL bus to take us to Dover for embarkation.
Our stateroom (9262) was aft on Deck 9, with balcony. It was clean and well tended by the stewards. However, it was small and crowded. One twin bed stuck out in the passageway so that we had to walk sideways to get to the bathroom, closet, or door. There did not appear to be any way to reconfigure the room to prevent this. We loved the towel animals the steward left for us each day. Our cabin steward was very efficient and pleasant.
