Our party included myself (57), DH (60) and DS(27). This was DS and my fourth cruise and DH's second. We flew into FLL on Jet Blue the day before and stayed at the Hyatt Place North. The hotel provided a complimentary shuttle from the airport to hotel and from the hotel to the port. Embarkation was quick and painless. Although this is an older ship, it was meticulously maintained and tastefully decorated. It looked somewhat worn in places, but still very attractive. We stayed in an aft junior suite on deck 8, directly below the spa. We found the cabin to have ample space for the three of us with a large balcony. It was a very quiet location. Our cabin attendant (Judy) was very friendly and kept our room spotless. We don't usually participate in the typical cruise activities preferring to just relax, read and spend time with each other. The Solarium is a very peaceful location and I particularly enjoyed sitting there and reading.
Service throughout the cruise was outstanding. I have never encountered a friendlier or happier crew. We did My Time Dining and I made reservations online for 7:15 every night. We all enjoyed the food very much. It was not 5 star dining but still good. Again the service was outstanding. We ate lunch in the dining room on sea days and particularly enjoyed their salad bar. We also ate breakfast in the dining room on 3 mornings. We usually prefer the dining room to the Windjammer as it is more peaceful.
We docked in Grand Cayman and Cozumel. DS arranged scuba dives in both locations through private vendors. DH and I arranged private excursions as well. In Grand Cayman, we had reservations through Stingray Sailing for a sting ray encounter, snorkel and sail back to shore. It was a wonderful excursion and I would highly recommend them. This was a tender port and we had no difficulty getting on a tender soon after we docked.
