My husband and I went on this trip as our honeymoon. We got married the day before, and were looking for any cruise that left the day after our wedding. This cruise on the Carnival Triumph worked perfectly for us because we had never visited any of the ports, and it gave us a chance to visit New Orleans. Being from California, we were one of very few not from the South on this cruise. We took a red eye flight from California to New Orleans, and arrived around 8 in the morning. We were to tired to explore at all, so we took a taxi straight from the airplane to the port. This ended up costing around $33. We got to the port around 9:30, which meant there were no lines what so ever. We checked in quickly, and and took a little nap in the loading area. Once our boarding number was called, we were on the ship very quickly. We headed straight to the buffet, which had just average food. We then took a nap by the swimming pool, in the extreme heat, until our room opened at exactly 1:30. We had an ocean view cabin, and I found the room to be quite large! We ate at the PAris dinning room everynight, and were sat by a very nice couple. The food in the dinning room was definitly better than the food at the Lido buffet. The service was ok, sometimes it was a little slow. On the first sea day, we went on our cruise critic cabin crawl, which was tons of fun! The swimming pools on the ship were always over run with kids splashing everywhere. There were even always kids in the adult hot tub. There were also always teenagers sitting on the stairs, trying to be funny. All the shows on the ship were really good quality. We loved the magician! The comedian was not funny at all. In Progresso we took the MAyan ruin tour. The bus ride was long, but the guide was very informative. The worst part of this tour was the awful heat. The next day, in Cozumel, we went to Paradise beach. It was a short taxi ride to get there, then $12 each to use all the toys on the beach. I found PAradise beach to be so so. There were a lot of teenagers around, acting crazy. Not the best place to snorkel, I only saw one fish. The last sea day, we participated in as many on board activities as we could. I felt as though there could have been a few more activities. We got picked as the newly wed couple on the love and marriage show, which was a little embarrasing, but a lot of fun. Getting off the ship, we found there to be very long lines. Especially through customs. Altogether it all went smoothly though. We then took a taxi to the Royal Sonesta hotel, where we stayed for the night. It is a nice hotel, although a little noisy being on Burban Street. We enjoyed walking around New Orleans, although it was beyond hot and humid the whole time. It is a crazy place! Altoghether, we had a great honeymoon. It was a very relaxing cruise, which was just what we needed after the stress of a wedding. The service and everything about the ship were pretty good!
