We previously sailed on the larger Norwegian Bliss and were disappointed in the experience. We decided to try a smaller ship in hopes of a better trip, and we definitely got it. The smaller ship is more intimate with smaller venues for music and other activities. There is not nearly as much space on the ship taken up by specialty dining and VIP-only areas. The ship overall felt less crowded than the larger ship. The food in the main dining room was varied and delicious as was the food at O'Sheehans. The only place we weren't happy with was the Jasmine Garden which was underwhelming and just ok.

Staff on the ship were friendly and efficient. Our room steward was great! The entertainment was very good for the most part. Magician was ok, comedian was very good, acrobats were excellent and the final show, Elements, was outstanding. The Jade orchestra was also very good as were the Prelude Duo and the various piano and guitar players.

We spent a lot of time hanging out at the Great Outdoors, the dining area at the very back of the ship attached to the buffet area. We actually never ate at the buffet since it was usually pretty crowded and also due to our poor experience at the buffet on the NCL Bliss. We tried many of the specialty drinks on the ship and they were all quite good except for the Mudslide.

Port Reviews

Great Stirrup Cay

Not well marked with signs, music blaring from different places making it difficult to hear just one, food not easy to find.

We went to Nelson's Dockyard and it was amazing. The tour needs to spend way more time here and less time at the other stops.

St. Thomas

We did the snorkel trip on a catamaran and it was great. The crew was friendly and knowledgeable, the boat was amazingly clean and overall it was one of our favorite stops.

San Juan

We did the Old San Juan walking tour and the guide was not very good. She did not seem very knowledgeable on the history, we stopped more than we walked, there were not bathrooms on the 3 hour walk, and overall we felt it was a waste of time. We could have done better on our own.
