We arrived in Anchorage on July 24, 2010 for our 11-night Holland America Cruisetour 2A
The land portion was spectacular if not frenetic. The pace was blistering but most enjoyable. Of the many highlights that stand out, I will recount but just a few. First, the Westmark Hotels were great, and the Westmark Inn in Dawson was spectacular. The service and food at most locations was of the highest quality and most appreciated. The train ride to Denali was a scenic wonder and the food quality and service on the train was five star. The Prime Rib dinner was exceptional.
Our tour director, Kyle Kendall, and driver "Doris" will live in our hearts and memories forever. They both were excellent in their duties and their abilities to always go above and beyond what one would expect. Wow!!!!!!
Our cabin 2713 was all the way aft on the starboard side of Deck 2. It had a picture window which looked out on the stern of the second deck. There was an 'emergency exit' which led to the stern deck of deck 2 where a flight of stairs led to Deck 3 Promenade Deck. Great because one of our friends in 2711 smoked and it was easy egress to the open deck and a place for him to smoke. There was no disclaimer or notice to "not use' this exit, so it became a quick way for us to exit rather than walk down the smelly hallway. Read my comments above about the habitability of #2713.
