Overall, we loved the ship - the size was about perfect to have more amenities but not too many people. The stateroom and public spaces were very comfortable and well done without being ostentatious.

The food was generally very good but there were some definite misses. The asian style dishes were generally excellent as were breakfasts and lunch in the cafe. We found most pastries to be lacking - it seems to be hit and miss on ships depending on the pastry ship. Some of the fish dishes were good and other times mushy (like my halibut). The one night dining at Manfredi's was good but the one night we dined at the Chef's Table was really strange. It was the only night we could get a reservation and when we entered at 8pm, the restaurant had perhaps 4 other table occupied. The service was very spotty and seemed rushed; at 9pm pretty much the entire staff disappeared without warning or asking us if we wanted anything else. We soon found out when we went to the theater that they were all there to be recognized as it was one of the last nights on the cruise. Very strange.

We found the entertainment to be generally very good - especially the 4 main vocalists as well as the band. The dance party with all of them at the pool one evening was a blast.

Port Reviews

Tromso

We enjoyed the town with quite a few things to see. The Mack brewery was fun (but expensive!) but we really enjoyed taking the cable car up to Fljellheisen (sp?) and walking around in the snow with a panoramic view. The city walking tour was pretty worthless but the bus tour was good with good views and scenery (but just a drive by of the Arctic Cathedral and no visit as advertised).

Narvik

Enjoyed the bus tour but not a whole lot else to do and we were there a very short time

Bergen

Loved the city and taking the funicular up and hiking down. It was helped that we had a partially sunny day with no rain.
