The wife and I took our 10th anniversary cruise (and first cruise ever) on the MSC Divina. We were originally going to try Virgin, as the kiddos were staying home with the grands for this one, but by the time we booked Scarlet Lady was full. MSC caught our attention from YouTube and online research. The price point was hard to beat and we weren't looking for a megaship for our first time out so Divina seemed perfect.

Booking: We did it ourselves online with their post-Christmas special. Their website is a negative for them. The special, which included 2 basic wifi and 2 basic alcohol packages were only for their Aurea (middle-tier) or up experiences. You go through that whole process and near the end it then asks you what tier experience you want. We selected Bella (lowest) not realizing it would terminate the special deal. It also doesn't provide a warning that you're about to lose the special deal. Only weeks after booking did we realize. The website should have had a pop-up saying the deal would be cancelled if you choose the wrong tier. Wound up paying slightly more for the Bella experience with 2 basic wifi and 2 non-alcohol packages. As the first thing most potential customers see about MSC, this website needs massive improvement.

Embarkation: Youtube and online made the embarkation process at PortMiami Terminal C look like a chaotic hellscape. Happy to say that was not our experience. We arrived on time and after providing passports and getting photographed we sat in the not crowded lobby for our group to board in less than 45 minutes. The boarding ramp was a bit crowded but moved smoothly and once on board we were able to drop our carry-ons off in our room even though it wasn't ready. Made a beeline for the Butcher's Cut to book both our 2 dinning experiences, found an attendant by the payment terminal who explained how to use it, and then we were free to explore the ship.

Port Reviews

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve

Venue is beautiful. Water is perfect and clear. Smaller MSC ships don't merit opening every facility on the island (re: bars and food trucks). Buffet is chaos and birds eat for free.
