The ship is magnificent, although the recent refurbishment in 2023 didn't reach all the staterooms( not allowed to call them cabins), the carpet in our room was badly stained. When contemplating a cruise with Cunard get everything in writing, we spent 3 hours on the phone between NZ and Australia with the Cunard agent and decided to upgrade our stateroom to a room with an un-interrupted view, on deck 11, we were told some of deck 8 would also have these views but were promised the higher one. This came at a cost of a further $2,000. When we were advised of our room number 2 weeks before sailing, we were given a room on deck 8, 4 rooms down from a lifeboat, which blocked any forward viewing, also outside or balcony we had the lifting gear and life rafts. Hardly an un-interrupted view. When we contacted the agent they said they would contact Cunard in the UK and see what they could do, which ended up being nothing. The food in the main restaurant was of a goof=d quality, but as we were on the ship for 25 days lacked a little in choice toward the end. Service was excellent on the Sydney to Hong Kong leg but dropped after this, possibly as crew changed and we know a number of crew we had contact with left the ship then. Service was almost silver service, but not quite getting there. The Kings Court buffet restaurant started off reasonably but by the end of our leg of the cruise in Singapore was lacking in choice and often quantity.

Be wary of the drinks packages as the US$70 a day per passenger, and all persons in a stateroom had to have the same package meaning a cost of US$140/ DAY for wine/ spirits or beer. Drinking water in bottles was US$5 per bottle, the tap water was supposed to be ok but as there had been a gastro bug on the ship we weren't taking any chances.

One thing you need to note is the additional 15% charge you will get on your account as you board the ship, this is to cover the tips for room and services on the ship, also be aware the all prices are in US$'s not Australian or NZ $'s.
