On March 6,2024 we arrived in Cairo and were met immediately by a Viking guide who quickly moved us through immigration and out to a waiting van. The airport was very hectic and it would have been most difficult to negotiate it without the help of Gerkis, our Viking guide. After a harrowing drive through the chaotic streets of Cairo, we arrived at the Fairmont Nile City Hotel. It was definitely 5-stars and our room was lovely with a great view of the Nile River. Our check in was quick and we were given information on the next days events.

From the very beginning, our tour was so efficient and well organized thanks to our tour director, Walid. My husband and I have done 10 Viking cruises and this one was one of the best! We felt very safe and well cared for on all of the excursions. The daily briefings were most informative and all the great details and historical knowledge of the monuments and sites were so helpful.

Visiting the Pyramids and the Sphinx was amazing! Seeing them up close was incredible! This was followed by a camel ride and some nice photos. I cannot emphasize how well organized these excursions were and every small detail was taken care of from security guards on the bus to nice cold water handed to us as we returned. Our time in Cairo was wonderful!
