14 Night Tokyo to Bangkok cruise on Seven Seas Explorer - in F1 Superior Suite single occupancy.

First time on Regent and chose this cruise for the port variety. Demographic was as you would expect at this price point - over 65, with a real mixture of nationalities - large group of Australians, some New Zealanders and Canadians, good numbers from the UK and Europe, a few from Asia and the remainder from the USA. The ship was not full.

The ship itself was in excellent condition inside and out. A very serious design fault was apparent in the aft staircase and lift foyer on each deck where there is no actual room to accommodate passengers standing waiting for the lifts.

Cabin Review

Superior Suite

F1 Superior Suite with slightly larger balcony. Beware deck 10 suites as you get some chair movement noise from the pool deck above. But overall a very comfortable cabin and a good location for access to lifts, Prime 7 etc. Note and this seems a recurring theme from Explorer Class ships - the air conditioning vents make a lot of noise and on this cruise I had it fixed three times. Also there was also a very annoying buzzing noise coming from the cabin wall which despite reporting this to the cabin attendant and to the front desk they could not solve.

Otherwise the Suite was in excellent condition and suite service was also excellent.

Port Reviews

Bangkok (Laem Chabang)

A long way to Bangkok city.

Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)

Well worth the visit - overnight stay. Very interesting history and lots to see.

Ok - but a bit much emphasis on the religious side for my tastes.

Very interesting - some o the guides struggle with English.

Not what you might expect for an island in the Pacific. Very interesting history. Well worth visiting.

Taipei (Keelung)

A huge contrast between rich and poor, but well worth visiting. Great shopping.

Tokyo (Yokohama)

Always a great place to visit. Extremely safe at all times of day, everyone very well dressed and oh so polite and helpful.

Great shopping and dining options.
