What I expect from Celebrity is first class service, excellent ships, excellent food, and so-so entertainment. The service was excellent. The staff was very professional and friendly. No complaints in this department. Getting on and off the ship was very smooth with virtually no waits or delays -- the terminal at Fr. Lauderdale knows what it's doing. The quality of the dining, however, has dramatically dropped since the last time we cruised with Celebrity in 2020 (this was our fourth cruise with Celebrity). For example, in the past, on lobster night, passengers were encouraged to order more than one lobster tail for dinner. This cruise (for the first time), there was a cap at one per person, and a charge of $20 for any additional tail. On other nights, the selections were a bit lackluster and did not have the excellence in the quality of the food or its preparation that made this line stand out in the past. The entertainment was meh at best. One night, the hypnotist asked a passenger to "warn other passengers in Chinese to get off the ship," you can imagine what followed as the passenger did not speak a word of Chinese, and let out a torrent of schoolyard taunts. The ship is on the older side, and it shows in terms of the absence of the activities on offer and the condition of the gym (for example). Not a big deal, but when the food AND the entertainment are both mediocre at best, there's little to separate Celebrity from other cruise lines. The cost cutting should stop -- charge me a couple hundred more and give me meals that I will remember. Spend a little more on entertainment so that we're not stuck listening to third rate performers.
