I chose this cruise as I wanted to return to cruising after a long break with health issues and the pandemic. It offered an opportunity to revisit some ports which I hadn't seen for about half a century at a reasonable price. It was a good time to go, as it was outside school holidays, although the time of year meant that in the tropical locations visited there was a strong possibility of cyclones and the humidity was likely to make things a little uncomfortable. This is by a considerable margin the largest ship I have ever cruised on. I found overall the Majestic Princess to be a very pleasant one to travel on, the happy crew and organisation to be of a high standard and food to be of a high quality and well presented. Entertainment was of a high standard and very enjoyable. The ship has some limitations as does every ship. The main ones from my perspective were a very limited promenade deck, which doesn't offer the opportunity to walk around the whole ship, what is available has very restricted width as well. The theatre also has poor sightlines for many of the seats, and I'm sure considerably lower capacity than ones provided for ships carrying 1000 fewer passengers. It was also poorly managed, with people continually entering and leaving during the course of performances, and seats being left empty when they were reserved by patrons for no-shows. The final evening performance was somewhat of a debacle when they only had one show instead of the usual two, and the theatre was almost full an hour ahead of the show. As for the ports, they all delivered although we did miss one on the itinerary as the sea states precluded tendering (Dravuni Island). It would have been good to hear the captains announcements in the cabins, I missed some as a result of them not being transmitted and like to be fully aware of this information.

Cabin Review

Balcony (obstructed view)

Found the cabin to be quite well laid out, although I occupied it as a solo traveller consider that it was of adequate size for double occupancy. The bathroom was quite compact although functional. The shower curtain seemed a bit primitive by modern standards. Noise levels were very good with no intrusion from cabins either side or from the hallway. There were some creaks at times from the balcony door area and from clothes hangers during the outbound part of the journey, the sea states being described as rough by the captain, although I only considered them to be moderate at worst.
