Let me start by noting we were fortunate to stay in the “Retreat” in an upper level suite. We originally booked this cabin (no Move Up) so perks, etc. described below are what come with booking. Check-in was quick (though we were misdirected a couple of time). There was a separate area for Retreat passengers with pastries and water/soda. There was no separate drop-off for Retreat luggage (more on this later). We were on board by 1045. The cabin steward was still cleaning the room, but we went to lunch at Luminae at 1130 and cabin was ready when we returned. Safety drill is easy. You watch a video on your phone and then go to your muster station to be checked in.

People say the ship looks tired and not well maintained . . . I’m a tough critic and have to disagree. The décor is more 2010s vs. 2020s. However, the ship is very clean – there wasn’t any time walking around the ship that I didn’t see someone cleaning, with a focus on the most-touched areas, such as railings. The two things I did notice – the elevator buttons are worn from being touched and our couch was saggy (needs new springs) and had a few permanent stains.

Speaking of cabins, VERY disappointed that our quite large balcony had no footstools and no loungers. There were 4 chairs, none of them particularly comfortable (we were told furniture was new). We were told footstools were removed “for safety reasons” and loungers because there was “no room.” If they got rid of the useless jacuzzi, there would be plenty of room. We book larger suites in part for the balcony experience. We like to sun on the balcony and put our feet UP. Our butler procured one lounger, and we used one of the chairs or the small table as a footstool (with a towel, of course). This is a deal breaker for us.

Royal Suite

Good size and nicely laid out. Jacuzzi "bathtub" on verandah just takes up space. No lounger or footstools on our cruise, but you can request a lounger.

Port Reviews

Bonaire

Easy to walk around town, which is a 5-minute walk from the ship. Great place to snorkel.

Curacao

Visited the caves -- well worth it, but does require climbing roughly 80 steps (overall). The Curacao factory is worth a visit as well -- get one of the frozen drinks for $10! The town is about a 10-minute walk from the pier with lots of shops and restaurants. Lovely place to visit.
