We have long wanted to transit the Panama Canal and the start of Regent's latest grand dame's career was the ideal opportunity. We left a wet and cold UK to find much the same in LA. We were on Splendour in July so the beauty of the ship was not a huge surprise. But Regent have managed to raise the bar again & not just with the beautiful Faberge egg on display.

Disappointments - Acapulco hadn't recovered from October's storm & Mazatlan was a poor substitute; Nicaragua is not open to cruise ships despite Regent including it on itinerary; unable to visit Grand Cayman due to seas. None of the sights visited will stay long in the memory. The trouble with included tours is you feel obliged to do one having paid for it and they often disappoint. The pool deck food area is expanded but that means no tables in the sun & a crowded feeling in the remaining seating.

Compass Rose ceiling is beautifully decorated, but why the perspex screens on the windows so you can only see out through a small porthole? The perspex screens have twinkly lights for evening, but that doesnt offset not being able to see where you are sailing into or out of.
