I guess Thomson are something of an anomaly in the world of cruising, less of a specialist cruise company, more of a "pile 'em high sell 'em cheap" package holiday operator who happen to have a couple of big boats on the side. It means a Thomson cruise is always going to be a wee bit different.
The journey
We flew from Glasgow. Thomson are great for the Regions! It was a Thomson plane, so it was a bit of a squeeze but it went on time and apart from the family from hell in the seats behind us it was all ok. After 4 hours or so of gritted teeth we were there. We had landed in Sharm El Sheik, safe in the knowledge that the family from hell were off in the opposite direction to a local hotel. A short coach ride past some ostentatious looking hotels conveniently located next to erm... a massive dessert.....(sorry before you get excited, I meant desert) and we were at the port. (And no it wasn't a massive port to go with the massive dessert). Come to think of it; It was more of a harbour than a port.
