COVID UPTDATE: a friend traveling with us got Covid, Her symptoms appeared the 2nd day of the cruise, so she got in Ohio before got on cruise (3-5 day incubation period). Medical staff saw and put on meds to prevent needing hospitalization later, She has multiple risk factors to have a bad outcome if not on meds for Covid.

She was put on 3 day isolation and 2 more days to mask then do whatever she wanted. Epidemiology office confirmed with me this was the ship policy. Being an MD I looked up the CDC, Australian and New Zealand public health guidelines and those were very different- 5 day isolation and 5 more day masking and avoiding crowds to pass illness to them-to be testing roommate for 5 days and asking to wear a mask for 5 days. Our traveling companion did not follow the ships nor other public health guidelines and ran around without a mask. Epidemiology office said they had no way to enforce their own rules. She was so tired she cancelled all her excursions on the 14 days because so ill, Coughing and sneezing for most of the 10 days so exposing other people by eating in Lido and going to shows. We did not socialize with her until after the 10 day CDC guidelines of avoiding other people.

Lots of people coughing and looking ill early in the trip- so probably brought with them and more got on the ship from others by the mifddle and end of the trip. We did not go to the shows nor the crowded events and we wore masks when around other people. So may people coughing and no one wearing a mask.
