Sail Date: Dec 2023

My Mum and I choose this cruise to celebrate her 60th Birthday. We choose Hurtigruten because of their long experience in polar sailing and because of their science program. Antarctica itself was a magical experience but we left regretting our choice of cruise line. Hurtigruten markets itself as luxury for a reasonable price, but make no mistake- they are a budget cruise line with a budget product and service.

Our issues included:

The flights To and From Ushuaia- our package was supposed to include charter flights from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia in Argentina. The flight down was with a bottom budget airline, JetSmart. Truely a new low in airplane food. On the way back it was even worse! Instead of a direct 3 hour flight they had booked us onto 2 commercial flights with a stopover in a random Argentinian city for a total of 7 hours travel time. To make matters worse we were not given this information until on the ship, and they didn't even get the flight numbers correct! They gave us a flight number that did not exist, and staff seemed baffled that a group of us were refusing to board what amounted to a mystery flight!

Cabin Review

Ok, gotta hand it to them here. I had no complaints about the cabin, it was simple but nice. The size was generous, the beds were very comfortable, the bathroom had a heated floor which was a nice touch. Our Cabin steward was also lovely and left adorable towel art in our room most days.
