This was our second cruise on the Independence of the Seas, our first being 12 months earlier. We drove to Southampton and left our car in the port's excellent parking facility. As before, this was a painless experience. We joined the queue for a short while, our luggage was collected and minutes later we were in the terminal being processed for embarkation. This went smoothly apart from the waiting area that lacked the necessary air conditioning on what was a very hot day.

Our deck 7 stateroom was everything we expected it be, clean, spacious and with that all important balcony. Our Steward, Joseph, introduced himself within minutes of our arrival and throughout the cruise worked hard maintaining the Wow factor we experienced in those first moments.Photographs of his towel animal sculptures form an important part of our holiday album!

We took all our evening meals at our allotted table in the Macbeth dining room. We were lucky in that we quickly formed a good relationship with our fellow diners and everyone at our table enjoyed a convivial atmosphere throughout the cruise. Our waiter Reynaldo and assistant waiter Adams are a credit to RCCL. Nothing was too much for them and they pampered us at every opportunity. Their good humour and courteous manner was a pleasure to behold. I certainly enjoyed the menu choices and everyone at our table was pleased with the excellent quality of the dishes we were served throughout the cruise. I also opted for the wine package and was pleased with the quality of wine on offer. The discount was good too! Lunch and breakfast was generally in the Windjammer. As in the previous cruise, we enjoyed eating there and it still amazes me how the catering staff manage to offer so many choices and at a consistently high standard.

Cabin Review

Superior Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D2

7356 was a nice spacious stateroom with plenty of room to move. The balcony makes a real difference and offered excellent views both in port and at sea. There is plenty of room to store luggage and the closet was sufficient for our needs. Situated on the starboard side on a quiet corridor, this stateroom is close to the library and elevators.
