We wanted to do a Christmas Market cruise and the preferred one was full. This sounded like a good alternative. We realize the flooded rivers were beyond the control of Viking, but the adjustment made didn't work that well for us. We were bused for hours to and from the scheduled excursions. We usually had the same amount of time at the towns, but free time to explore the towns on our own was not possible which it would have been if we were moored nearby as was usual. After a few days, we switched boats to one on the other side of the locks and those passengers switched to our boat. We still needed to be bused to our excursions from our mooring in an industrial area. The river did eventually go down a little and we cruised two nights out of a 12 day trip.

The food was good and the staff friendly and efficient. We were pleased with our accommodations and the common areas were nice. Unfortunately, winter weather is not the time to be able to take advantage of all the boat had to offer outside on the upper deck. We missed an evening program we would have enjoyed. I don't remember hearing about it.

Being on such long bus rides allowed illness to spread. By midway through, most of the men were sick and the women were starting to get sick. My husband came home with Type A flu and I got COVID. Luckily neither of us got sick until the end of the trip.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Stateroom

The cabin was nice and the bed comfortable.
