Our first Viking River Cruises. We Sailed from Basel, Switzerland on the 23d on December 2023 on the Viking Ship Hlin up the Rhine River to Amsterdam. Our Original Viking Sister Ship the Alruna was not available for this River Cruise. Both ships are similar in design and service, and we transition into our A Veranda Stateroom with ease. Several of the Viking Service Staff were present to help assist us fat our final destination Airport, to our Tour Motor Coach that drove us directly to the ship, very smooth and helpful (a twenty-minute drive). Upon arrival to our Ship the Hlin, we boarded this vessel and were immediately greeted by the Ships Senior Staff and Cabin Stewards, that checked us in, took our baggage to our stateroom, and then invited us to the guest dining area for a wonderful meal. The meal selections on board were both General (America/British Food choices) and Regional Fare Cruize. The Viking Cruise Line docks at their own their establish docking sites/areas.

The Suite Room (Cabin had a separate balcony and was comfortable). The electrical systems installed on board these ships will adapt to both 110 (America and European appliances (i.e. CPAP Machines, etc., American electrical appliances, so bring your converters if you must). Fresh drinkable and Distilled water were refilled daily at our request, as well as beverages (if we bought the Silver Package available for top shelf brands and fine wines). The Room Steward (Silva was our Room Steward) and should be commended for her outstanding service she provided daily to our family.

The bathroom was a bit small but provided ample room for both the Shower and small sink with a commode. There are also small toiletry kits provided, Men/Women bring your own razors for that shaving need or requirement). There were no or limited handrails in place to support you in the shower. Although the floors are heated and well drained. The bathroom entrance did require you to step up into the bathroom area (a small 6–8-inch step) that had a sliding door for privacy. It was not designed to be ADA Compliant, due to European Ship Design and current or past Regulations. However, this ship had a elevator that could hold weight of 695 KG, Two Story Lift up to nine (9) people (from the middle deck to the upper deck), this came in handy for those of us with some limited walking and climbing disabilities)
