Cabin: Veranda

The ship was nice, but starting to show its age. Upholstery on the chairs in the dining rooms are starting to crack, the leather parts. The chairs in the Sonesta dining rooms, and many places elsewhere on the ship were so deep in the seat that they were not comfortable to sit on without asking for a pillow for support.

Stateroom were nice and well appointed, but also starting to show wear. Some dresser drawers were coming apart. Curtains a little shappy.

Food was generally very good all over. Did not get the drink package because my husband doesn't drink that much, therefore when I wanted wine it was very costly-- $17 a glass or $60 a bottle. With such cheap, great wine in South America, that's what they should be selling. We ended up buying our own at every port.

Cabin Review

Veranda

Roomy, clean, well appointed. Dresser drawers coming apart. Curtains shabby.

Roomy shower with glass doors, comfortable bed. Couch, coffee table, refrigerator, TV, . Roomy veranda with table and 2 adjustable chairs. Large closet. Storage above bed and below bed.

Cabin attendant very nice and accommodating. Ratha.

Le Petite Chef specialty dinner was very entertaining, different, food good.

Port Reviews

Buenos Aires

We explored this city on our own using Ubers. Large city with a mix of old and new. A significant homeless population. Great indoor marketplace with food stalls and goods for sale of every kind. Beautiful parks.

Cape Horn

It was not a stop but the ship went around the horn---- SPECTACULAR. Bucket list. And the ship provided coffee and pastries for all the passengers that got up early to experience the event.

Punta del Este

Beautiful beaches. Walkable town. Interesting sculpture ( hand coming out of the sand).

Puerto Madryn

Penguins, penguins penguins! Awesome excursion. Penguin rookery was up close and personal. Worth the drive and the walk. Saw many many nesting penguins, babies, penguins walking to the beach to feed.

Pedral Lodge for lamb BBQ lunch was absolutely excellent. Family style. Sit down. Lots of regional wine. Many sides.

Ushuaia (Tierra del Fuego)

On the way to Ushuaia, in the Beagle Channel, we viewed several glaciers, some with waterfalls. Spectacular.

Ushuaia interesting small town. Terrific national park. Horrible excursion boat ride. Weather was blowing, seas high. Captain of the small boat going way too fast over waves. Slamming the boat down. Had to stand up out of your seat to meet the waves. Unnecessary.

Punta Arenas

Not a spectacular place. Interesting cemetery and boat museum. Our tour to see the sea lions was cancelled. Disappointing. Really nice restaurant we found for lunch--la Marmita. Don't miss that.

Puerto Montt

Beautiful area. Volcanic. Excursion to petrahoe rapids and lake. Would have chosen a different excursion. Started late.

Chilean Fjords

No port, just sailed through, but extremely beautiful scenery on both sides.
