Brilliant Baltics !

Sail Date: July 2010
Destination: Baltic Sea
Embarkation: Harwich
We travelled to Harwich by train and within minutes of leaving the train we had checked in and were aboard. The ship was very attractive with open windows allowing sea views from the central atrium. The solarium was particularly nice with a Balinese theme.

We had an oceanview cabin at the front of the ship, overlooking the Helipad. The cabin was spacious and well decorated with plenty of storage space. In comparison to the balcony cabin we had on Oasis of the Seas there was masses of storage !

The staff were all very pleasant although our cabin steward never seemed to be around and we had to leave notes to request things like ice etc. Having said that, the cabin was cleaned superbly.

We ate at second sitting in the main dining room and were impressed by the staff and the food. The prime rib and meat in general seemed much better than on cruises departing from the States. Nothing was too much trouble for our waiter and he ensured that any requests were More attended to immediately.

Another highlight of the cruise was the superb cruise director, Clodagh, who went by the name of HelloClo. She was excellent, very funny and got to know all the guests. Her morning show on TV was always a good laugh and she was around the ship from morning till late night.

The entertainment was mostly good.

All in all it was an excellant cruise and although we missed seeing Stockholm because of engine problems ,the ports of call were great. Less

Cabin review: G7500 Large Ocean View Stateroom

As the cabin had a sloping window there was a large area you could sit on to watch the world go by, although you had to climb on .

Port and Shore Excursions

We took the Shuttle bus and walked around the city. We visited a palace which is being modernised for the Crown Prince which was very interesting. We went to Tivoli gardens but realised we would not have enough time to justify the cost of entry and rides so we just walked around. The Little Mermaid was in Shanghai for a Expo.

A beautiful clean ,open city. We used the Hop On tourist bus. The bus service was good but rather overcrowded. The views from the top of the tower at the 1952 Olympic stadium were great. There was a good market at the harbour selling local crafts and an amazing display of local fruit, vegetables and flowers

An amazing city. We had 2 fantastic days seeing the sights.

We booked the Moderate tour with Alla tours ant it was faultless. We had 10 on out tour. The guide, Marina was amazing. She knew so much and took us to all the main sights. We also went on the subway. The driver parked our bus at the door of every attraction and appeared at the right time. Marina had booked tickets and we were able to visit everywhere with no queues and often with only our group seeing each room.

Peterhof and St Catherines Palace were memorable.

Wonderful Medieval town. We took a taxi from the ship and explored on our own. We really enjoyed wandering about and had lunch on the main square enjoying the atmosphere.

This was a substitute port in place of Stockholm. It was pleasant and had some impressive walls and picturesque streets
