My husband and I were onboard Viking Polaris in October, going from Valparaiso in Chile to Ushuaia in Argentina. We saw many beautiful fjords and glaciers; we visited fascinating cities and hiked an unscheduled trail that turned out more stunning than the original trail in Punta Arena. (The original hike was changed by the local operator due to the weather.) But the biggest surprise on this cruise was the room upgrade we got just before we left home! We cruise with Viking often and this was the first room upgrade we ever received. Needless to say, we were excited to start our adventure in South America!

GETTING THERE:

We booked our cruise when Viking was offering free air promo. They arranged our roundtrip international flights. We booked the domestic flights in Argentina on our own to take advantage of our long flight getting there and to explore the Patagonia region after we disembarked in Ushuaia. We paid Viking $100 pp deviation fee to change the end date of our itinerary.
