Late arrival into Port of Miami due to Port being closed

We've been a fan of Grandeur of the Seas for many years and chose this cruise for a return to one of our favorite ships and for its different itinerary. Even though Grandeur is scheduled for a dry dock late March 2024 this ship is in great condition. We were so happy with the ship we booked another cruise on her again also before dry dock. The things which impressed me the most with Grandeur is the ships layout. The comfortable seating with views of the ocean and centrum are abundant. Subtle lighting, an excellent Christmas soundtrack of music was playing throughout the ship which a long with the decorations made this cruise the perfect pre Christmas getaway. Top notch, the very very best bar attendants of any ship I've sailed on. The friendly deck crew from the engineering areas, the maintenance crew was greatly appreciated as well. Service in the MDR, Specialty Restaurants, Windjammer we're all excellent. Our waiter Jay provided wonderful service and also did magic tricks and sang. Moscato's arrived just as we did and he always made sure we had two baskets of bread for our table of three. The public rooms appear fresh and clean. Overall the interior and exterior of the ship appears brand new. Food is on par with all Royal Caribbean ships, everything was served quickly and the right temperature. We enjoyed the extra theme dinners Asia and the United Kingdom, my favorite is the French dinner because of a multitude of excellent beef dishes. Every evening also included a delicious Indian entree. We were very happy with the entertainment offerings. A nice variety of performances. The live bands are awesome! As you realize during the cruise planning process the ship does not have a flow rider, Zipline, water slides, miniature golf if these items are important to your family, you might want to select a different Royal Caribbean class of ship. Otherwise if you are looking for a friendly, low cost, relaxing classic cruise experience you will be right at home on Grandeur. The ship has a lovely wrap around Promenade deck with lots of deck chairs and even chairs at the aft end. The port side is smoking and there is no bow viewing platform. You can sometimes walk around the lower forward area of the bow viewing the train, chains etc, but it's closed often. The Captain oddly did not make his Noon report from the bridge any time during the cruise which I missed. I'm not sure if it was just him or if it's a fleet wide thing. We experienced a delay arriving back into the Port of Miami because the Port was closed due to high winds. However it was a nice extension of our cruise vacation and we enjoyed a nice breakfast and lunch in the Windjammer. Royal offered money to passengers which has flights so they could make flight changes. The pool bar was open and we could use our Diamond plus drink credits. It was a really nice cruise and we enjoyed everything very much..

Cabin Review

Our interior stateroom for three was well maintained and clean, comfortable and plenty of room for 3 adults who only use the stateroom to sleep and clean up. We never spend much time in our cabin and prefer to enjoy the ships lounges and deck space.

Port Reviews

Cartagena (Colombia)

This was our least favorite port only because of the constant haggling to sell you something. We did the walled city walking tour, harbor cruise. It was interesting and the architecture beautiful

Colon (Cristobal)

We did the aerial tram over the rain forest, was excellent, would do it again!!

Puerto Limon

Wonderful excursion, we took the historical train, would do it again! Michael our tour guide was awesome

Curacao is a delightful port with nice shopping nearby. The beach excursion to the art gallery was a bit disappointing only because amenities at the beach were very basic, uncomfortable plastic chairs most of which were in the sun, beach area was beautiful but small.
