We chose this cruise as we like cruises that are at least 14 days long… this being a 17 day cruise was perfect and also on the recommendations of our Oceania cruising friends. However, it quickly became clear that Vista was unable to meet our high expectations .

Our first night at dinner in the Grand Dining Room it took over 3 hours to serve our meal! Sometimes the service was excellent but until we found Rosalyn’s section it often left a great deal to be desired both in service and demeanour of the staff. We were never disappointed with Rosalyn. Her attention to detail and her obvious desire to please were evident every day. It is unfortunate that this was not seen consistently by others in all the other restaurants. One morning in the Waves cafe we were served coffee in a cracked cup. We pointed this out and the cup was quickly removed but no one ever came to bring a replacement cup of coffee! At other times it seemed to take a long time for any service and occasionally staff seemed to look the other way when we were trying to flag them down!

We found the excursions to be quite disorganized with changes being made frequently and not always being given the information needed to make the excursion successful. For example our visit to the Fricolandia Beach Club was spoiled because it was not stated that if you wanted to swim in the ocean you needed beach shoes as the rocks were so sharp! All ocean swimmers that day were dismayed at the beach conditions. Many times the descriptions of the excursions were quite different from the actual experience.

Cabin Review

Veranda Stateroom

Cabin was kept clean at all times, towels refreshed when required. Our biggest complaint was going 5 days without being able to see clearly through the salt covered glass. We finally washed it ourselves! Our room steward attempted to finish the job but the bottom half remained streaky.
