Many aspects of the cruise were excellent.

Room stewards, dining staff, pool deck outlet staff all excellent.

The difficult aspects stand out. I had a feather pillow the first night, and I had an asthma attack. If you need a hyperallergenic pillow, request one before your cruise. To rub salt into the wound, they were repainting the superstructure in port when I was resting from asthma, and the air intake was right next the painting work, it seems. Paint solvent fumes are not good when you are recuperating from asthma.

Cabin Review

Disabled access with balcony. Very spacious, expect passengers with wheelchairs to be able to negotiate it. Ramp over sill to balcony, bathroom seems appropriate. Very hard to open balcony door, disabled persons might find that difficult. Bathroom door rattles when ship is rolling. TV swivels when ship is rolling. Can bang into fixed furniture. Fridge is bare with no racks. Several US electrical outlets, one Australian style outlet, USB outlet at the base of every lamp, totally sufficient for us.

Port Reviews

Auckland is a lovely port, walk off the ship into the heart of the city. Unfortunately it was a rainy day and I wasn't feeling well.

The bus from Lyttleton takes you to a lovely part of the city. It is very pleasant to walk around there.

A charming place with friendly people. The art deco architecture is very pleasing to the eye.

Didn't go into the city of Tauranga, just enjoyed the port town. Walked around the extinct volcano, and admired the very pleasant views. Others in our group walked up to the top of the volcano. On a previous visit we hired a car to see Hobiton. It turns out that when the cruise ship is in town, seats on the Hobiton tour are limited. If you organise to do it yourself, don't go without booking your Hobiton tour tickets in advance.
