Sail Date: Nov 2023

This was our sixth cruise on Aurora since first sailing on her in 2002 and hopefully it certainly won't be our last.

This short cruise was booked in an effort to appease/satisfy the older element of our family, as only a month earlier we had taken a Marella fly cruise with the younger generation. Originally booked to accommodate mother in law who has mobility issues and is unable to fly, for convenience we also booked port parking with CPS who has always provided excellent service though they have now become quite pricey.

Mother-in-law cancelled just a couple of days after paying the final balance but my wife and I decided to still go as we have never been to Amsterdam (port cancelled due to weather on a previous cruise).

Cabin Review

Basic inside cabin which seemed very small when compared to some of the other ships that we have sailed on but that has everything that you require. Warm dark and comfortable.

However on this voyage our cabin portside on deck 12 was rather noisy at times with the sound of a fan or compressor running and banging metal.

Port Reviews

Amsterdam

We were glad to have visited Amsterdam but wouldn't rush back. There are some beautiful buildings in the city, both old and new. Unfortunately there are an awful lot of trashy shops selling all sorts of tat. Also there are a lot of people walking around smoking unchallenged illegal substances and avoiding them can be quite a challenge not to mention the hundreds of homicidal cyclists that seem to think it acceptable to drive straight at people having no consideration for pedestrians in pedestrianised areas.

The city is also quite dirty with rubbish strewn streets and graffiti plastered everywhere. Do the people who live and work there not have any pride in their city?
