Passing our local TUI travel agency we noticed a "Manager's special" for this cruise and enquired within. The dates coincided perfectly with the half term school holiday, an inset day, and our daughter's leave week. In addition the second day of the cruise was our granddaughter's birthday and this would be her first flight on an airplane though not her first cruise. The price offered made it a no brainer especially as we had cruised once previously with Marella just prior to covid and had been very satisfied with the product.

The flight was into Corfu and after reading horror stories about Corfu airport prior to departure it gave me severe reservations as to whether I had made the wrong decision. However our arrival and processing through Corfu airport couldn't have been smoother as we were seated on the coach to the ship only 15 minutes after landing. The boarding process at the docks wasn't too bad either.

Explorer may not be the newest and flashiest of ships that have the latest features but she is in our opinion still a comfortable ship and has an elegance and style missing from more modern floating tower blocks. The only real issue that we have with the actual ship is that the pools are not heated which is a massive shame.

Cabin Review

Our inside cabin though somewhat dated was clean, tidy and perfectly acceptable for our needs, so no complaints on that score.

The fridge had been removed (possibly in preparation for a re-fit?) but as we rarely use the fridge so we didn't miss it.

It had a good size bathroom with a door to the shower rather than a shower curtain which for some reason is not acceptable to some, but personally I have never had any issues with shower curtains.
