There are no bad cruises, for us they are adequate to excellent. However, I am writing this review while drinking what is perhaps the worst coffee at Sea on Silver Shadow. The saga of the bad coffee at sea pretty much sums up the cruise experience. This is our 4th Silversea cruise and we generally like a small ship experience. Besides SS we have cruised on Crystal, Oceania, Seabourn and Regent. Our next cruise is on Explora I and we have a 2024 booking on Silver Ray.
Embarkation in Quebec. Very simple, quick, and painless -- drop luggage, security screen, health questionnaire, receive key, take photo, turn in passport, credit card scan, walk on board, and lunch in La Terrezza. Suites were ready at 2pm.
Muster. Many people are now complaining about cruise lines no longer doing e-musters. On Shadow the muster was traditional outside by the lifeboats muster, the only difference was the life vests were left in the cabin. Muster was smooth and a non-issue for most.
Cabin was very functional. Location 814 was not good as there was no direct route to the aft part of the ship. Had to go through the pool deck an the 32 deg F temperature and rocking sea. Crew entrance very noisy, with door slamming.
