Not our first HAL cruise and not our last. We love this itinerary which provides ample time ashore if desired, and ample time onboard to enjoy the ship.

One thing we noticed....staff was cleaning throughout the ship in public areas all day long and into the evenings. Also appreciated the hand sanitizers/hand washing stations in the Lido when we ate there.

We had early dining and great service from Ferry and Sandi the entire cruise. Any questions about menu items were answered to our satisfaction. Our food was always as ordered, perfect temperature, attractively presented and we had no disappointments with any of our choices. We felt there were a good number of options every night. Is cruise ship dining 5-star? I think most people might agree that it isn't.....but the ship is feeding over 2000 people every meal! You don't get your own chef, but you do get consistently good meals. Kudos to HAL's kitchen staff for doing such a great job!

Cabin Review

Plenty of storage on our Shubert deck cabin. Always wish the balcony was larger but it was definitely adequate. Lovely choice of pillows available, bed was comfortable for us. Only issue, very minor, was a bit of a musty smell the first day, but not noticeable after that.

Port Reviews

Aruba

Took a taxi to Eagle Beach for the morning. Arranged for our driver to take us back to the port at a specified time and he was ready and waiting for us! Such a stunning beach.

Bonaire

Did our own walk-about here. Easy to get around (we're good walkers).

Curacao

Revisited the old synagogue (an easy walk). Did a bit of wandering and sadly discovered our favorite ice cream shop along the waterfront was closed....but we still enjoyed the day.

Half Moon Cay

HAL needs to re-train (in our opinion) some the staff on the island. HMC is such a great asset for the company and should reflect better service standards. The process for getting a reserved clamshell on the beach is chaotic and unorganized for first timers (we were not). There is no good signage regarding where to go to "sign in" and the personnel are not great at communicating at all. Additionally, we had to set up our own clamshell (not a huge problem for us in spite of the broken equipment) and we helped others set up. The person assigned (?) to this duty disappeared and eventually came back after most of those around us got set up on their own. More staff is needed for these rentals, at least until the clamshells are set up. Way too unorganized!
