Sail Date: Oct 2023

We joined three other couples to celebrate the 70th birthday of one of our companions on board. We have sailed on 23 cruises with several cruise lines in the past, but not on Silversea. We found the cabins to be quite comfortable, and the service to be above average, but the, food and wine offerings were spotty at best. In addition, the ship's layout is quirky, with little logic to the location of many of the public rooms. Many of the seats in the public rooms were poorly designed and uncomfortable. The TV system and controls in the cabins are cumbersome and lacked logical guidance. There was no computer room, so if you did not have your own cell phone or tablet, you were out of luck. The menus in all of the restaurants were mostly static, with only a few items changing day to day. So, if you wanted something different, you had to go to another dining venue. The caviar offered was undistinguished (tiny grain, very black and mushy). The breads and pastries seemed to be supermarket level quality....Not what one would expect from a luxury cruise line. After about a week on board, you had experienced it all. The formal/informal/casual dress codes were strictly enforced. And while I don't mind dressing up for dinner, there were no special dishes nor ceremonies, other than one captain's welcome cocktail party, to warrant formal attire. The ship decor feels casual, while the formal staff and dress codes seem out of place. Disembarkation was a bit of a jumble, with little guidance by print nor offered by staff. All in all, while there were highlights, the negatives outweighed the cost.

Cabin Review

Comfortable bed, good closet, shower and bath, awkward seating and poor interactive TV system.

Port Reviews

Impressive fortifications.
