Overview Our week long cruise aboard the Carnival Legend was a wonderful experience. We have cruised 4 times before this voyage. We had a fabulous time, sailed to ports we'd never been to, gained weight, and had the most relaxing vacation we've ever enjoyed! The cruise ship itself, The Carnival Legend, was amazing. Thematically set to Legends of all types (Mythological figures and places, legendary things, contemporary sports and entertainment legends, etc...), the ship was a place of constant discovery. We enjoyed the beauty of the ship so much that we read from cover to cover the promotional book in our cabin published the year of the Legend's first sail date. Never have we seen such a beautiful ship, ornate with so much artwork, tapestries, and attention to detail. It was a great ship. Now on to the cruise features and what we liked and didn't like:

Food We'll start with one of the negatives... We had high expectations for the food in the Truffles Restaurant. We were disappointed. Lack of flavor was what we discovered. Great selections of dishes and an attempt at gourmet dishes, but flavorless Mahi-mahi, steaks with very little flavor, desserts that were all fluff and no stuff. The dining room food was not bad, it just wasn't great. Actually, the Lido Deck cafeteria style dining area had better tasting food. Their desserts were 100% better than the restaurant which we found odd. The pizza on the Lido Deck was fabulous as was their breakfast food. DO NOT EAT IN THE TRUFFLES DINING ROOM FOR BREAKFAST!! Their omelets have been precooked and were sitting in a warmer for a long time! The supper club, "The Golden Fleece Restaurant', was extremely good, however. Dishes that looked and tasted like they were made on "Iron Chef". My wife had the lobster and I had a Porterhouse Steak and they were both delicious and elegantly served. For only a $30 per person upcharge for this 5 course meal, it was well worth it and will be the best meal you get onboard.

Accommodations Once you go balcony, you'll never go back! We had the most amazing extended balcony room (not a cabin!) and we loved sitting out on our balcony every morning and every night sipping coffee or wine and watching the beautiful sea. We even spotted dolphins swimming alongside our ship from our balcony. The size of the room, the amenities, the lovely turn-down service each night with a different towel animal waiting for you, was a wonderful way to end the day. I felt the king size bed was a bit hard, but the pillows were marvelous. The room stewards were exceptional and always addressed us throughout the cruise by our first names - first class treatment!
